TWO MINUTES, NO TOOLS
You will not need a wrench, a plumber, or a YouTube tutorial. If you've ever changed a showerhead, you already know how to do this.
What you'll need
Your hands. Nothing else, strictly speaking though if you want an especially snug seal, a short length of plumber's tape (widely available, a few dollars at any hardware store) around the threads never hurts. It's optional, not required.
The step
- Remove your current showerhead. Turn it counterclockwise by hand. Most showerheads loosen without any tool at all; if yours resists, a cloth for grip is usually enough.
- Check the threading and washer. Take a look at the exposed connection on your shower arm. If there's a small rubber washer inside your old showerhead, leave it in place or transfer a spare it's what keeps the seal watertight.
- Thread on the filter. Screw the Dulcis Agua filter body onto the shower arm clockwise, by hand, until snug. Don't overtighten hand-tight is the correct amount of force. Forcing it further risks damaging the threading rather than improving the seal.
- Attach your showerhead. Thread your showerhead or, for the Duo system, your dual heads onto the outlet end of the filter, the same way you'd install any showerhead.
- Run the water for thirty seconds before your first shower. New filter media can release a small amount of fine carbon dust on its very first use. A brief flush clears it completely and is a one-time step.
That's it. No shutoff valve, no sealant, no second trip to the hardware store.
If something doesn't line up
